Community Connections
Community is our driving force
Everything we do as a company is underpinned by the belief that creating artistic works that challenge
assumptions through inclusive collaboration ultimately builds stronger communities.
Create and wear original art!
Participants with and without disability and who are d/Deaf are invited to create original costumes and learn creative makeup techniques to design and create characters.

These weekly workshops are designed for those wanting to learn new skills, build confidence and also make new friends in a safe, inclusive and fun environment.
A gallery just off the street!
Want your own exhibition? Our office has blank walls ready to be adorned with your art! There will be three opportunities in 2025 for artists to have their work exhibited for a month in our street side gallery in the heart of Mackay.
View our art!
Videos created throughout the year will be projected onto Crossroad Arts’ street facing double Window Gallery which is situated in the heart of Mackay’s CBD in the bustling Wood St cafe precinct.
This will not only promote Crossroad Arts programs at night in a high traffic area but will also contribute towards the revitalisation of the City Heart.
Community.Regional.Up Skill.Haven
Crossroad Arts is partnering up with Dancenorth Australia (Townsville) and Undercover Artist (Access Arts Brisbane) to produce an exciting 3 days of workshops in contemporary movement, performance and theatre making to nurture a new crop of fresh and crushingly sweet talent!
Kooky. Social. Inclusive
Celebrate diversity at our kooky, social and inclusive performance evening!
As well as strutting our stuff on the evening we also ask people to dig deep as LOOSE ENDS is also our annual major fundraiser. Please support us by grabbing a ticket for a night to remember as we showcase performance, music, live painting, dance and quirky antics from a cross section of the community!
I can. I dream. I uncover.
SCOPE is a 3 day theatre workshop intensive in visual storytelling for young d/Deaf and hard of hearing people. We gather to see and to uncover the infinite possibilities of each individual’s identity through visual vernacular, confidence to be yourself and using imagination to discover d/Deaf and hard of hearing perspectives.
Community connections workshop - high school program
A series of graffiti, visual and digital art workshops with high school students with disability in Sarina and Mirani alongside Street Artist Muddy Grimes. The visual arts workshops will culminate in a community public art work that fosters pride.
Poetry, music and songwriting
A Crossroad Arts artist with disability will facilitate a series of drop in workshops as part of Youth Week celebrations. The artwork created during this workshop will contribute to our major production.
Community Connections - Production and technical training
Are you interested in learning more about theatre production but prefer to work behind the scenes? Do you want hands-on experience in a professional theatre venue? This year Crossroad Arts in association with the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre will launch technical and production training for FREE!
Community Connections - Artist support training
Do you collaborate with or support an artist with disability? Alongside Crossroad Arts artists, Artists in Residence and Ambassadors, we invite all supports and collaborators to training on how to be an artist support. An artist support provides access and creative support during workshops, projects or major productions.
